PROJECT

Through a practical simulation, the training reinforces hygiene and prevention protocols to reduce the spread of infectious diseases in shelters, such as Parvovirus.

BRIEF

VR Training: Infectious Diseases Prevention in Shelter. Developed a hands-on Virtual Reality training experience for the Athens Area Humane Society, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, focused on welcome training for new volunteers in animal shelters.
The objective of the experience is to improve understanding and retention of critical prevention protocols, reducing the risk of spreading highly contagious infectious diseases, such as Parvovirus.
Through an immersive simulation, users learn in a guided and experiential way the key routines of the environment: hygiene, use of equipment, procedures for entering and exiting sensitive areas and decision making in common day-to-day situations.
RESULT

The project resulted in an immersive training experience that significantly improves learning and knowledge retention. Users interact with virtual pets, review symptoms, make decisions based on veterinary protocols and answer quizzes to identify specific viruses or diseases. The simulation allows practicing real-life situations in a controlled environment, reinforcing infectious disease prevention and enhancing volunteer training.

This approach transforms a traditional training process into a memorable, scalable and highly effective training, raising prevention standards and enhancing safety for both the animals and the shelter team.
